Nebraska, Cornhusker State

Fun fact: Before Nebraska was officially named the Cornhusker State in 1945, it was called The Tree Planter State. The “Tree Planter” nickname came from legislation passed in 1895 meant to rid the state of other more undesirable nicknames such as “Bug Eaters” and “The Squatters.”
