SightseeingSally sits on a red bench in front of a facade made to look like Dorothy's house from Wizard of Oz along Route 66 in Kansas.

Kansas, the Sunflower State

As we’ve discovered, there’s more to Kansas than just fields and tornados. No wonder Dorothy wanted to go home so badly.

Baxter Springs – a small town big on nostalgia from Route 66 days.

Bloom – barely even a town, its post office closed in 1992!

Chetopa – a small city big on history in Labette County.

Kingsdown – a living ghost town on US Hwy 54 in Ford County.

Oswego – a small town in Southeastern Kansas that we stumbled upon while driving the back roads.

West Mineral – a former coal mining community in Cherokee County, this living ghost town is home to something really big!!!
